Barbados

Barbados

I am seriously thinking about moving to Barbados. The political situation in this country has become intolerable and has been for a while (I’m thinking of the political situation in American academic philosophy, but national politics is pretty bad too). Barbados is a British protectorate, not American, so you can get away from that demographic. I was there on vacation twenty years ago, mainly to learn kite surfing, and have good memories of the place and its people. I want to be near the water again. I wonder if any readers have personal experiences of the island which they would care to share.

Sorry, never been there, but always fancied it. Looks amazing and perfect for a uk winter break. I see that tennis is gaining popularity there so that might suit yourself. I’m not really into sport, but for some inexplicable reason (I’m Scottish) I have been rather fond of cricket in the past so would be a nice past-time watching it there. Universal healthcare too apparently.

Incidentally, I had always fancied visiting America and, as you may remember, I’ve been quite defensive of Americans (as there are many lovely ones), but I’ve had to accept that the country is as mad as a brush. The many decent people seem to be outnumbered by English speaking dipshit Nazis (plenty of those in UK too, just not the majority). I now never want to go there, lest I end up in shackles and deported for a minor paperwork error. The evil era of Trump will never be erased in my mind, a real shame, but it seems Americans have been brainwashed by a useless collection of idiot billionaires.

I have not been to Barbados, but visited a few other Caribbean islands. Turks and Caicos stood out in comparison to other great destinations such as Grenada, Antigua, Aruba, Anguilla and Santa Lucia. Grace Bay is hands down the best beach — wide, long, clean white sand. Great vibes, water sports and not too many US visitors. Not much of an advice as tourist vacation is different from permanent residence, but still.
