    Dear Colin McGinn,
Throughout my life, I have never drawn someone I did not genuinely wish to draw. This drawing is one of the rare works I have made. I have learned a great deal from you, and for this reason I created it as a gift and as a gesture of respect. I sincerely thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn from you, in a way very much like that between a teacher and a student.

    With my respect,

    Dear Colin,

Yes, I included the hand deliberately. One reason was your interest in the hand and my wish to allude directly to Prehension, which I see as an essential complement to your work. The clue lies both in the book and in the etymology of “prehension” itself. But more importantly, I thought your hand would form a very strong pair with your face. Because two friends (that is, the mind and the hand) are very successful accomplices in grasping the mysteries of the world.

    Best regards,
    Uğur
