Dumbocracy

Dumbocracy

It’s official, we are now living in a dumbocracy (OED “government by the dumbest”). We used to live in a democracy, but (as Plato predicted) democracy has an inherent tendency to degenerate into dumbocratic rule. The causes are somewhat mysterious (political scientists are baffled) but it is marked by the rise of ignorance, stupidity, and aphasia. In our case we have decided to go outside the human species for our governing elite. We have a muskrat in charge of federal employment (a muskrat is defined by Wikipedia as “a medium-sized semiaquatic rodent”): the Elon (short for “elongated”) Muskrat is known for its predatory behavior towards vulnerable animals. Then we have the Hegseth baboon noted for its loud cries and general uncouthness. Also, the striped Gabbard bird that feeds on small insects and was once regarded as harmless, accompanied by a croaking and florid Krocodile over at Health. The obscure Homans Simpletons mainly sticks to chasing powerless newcomers around. And, of course, we have the apex scavenger, the greater orange-faced Grump—a kind of bequiffed holdover from the pre-Neanderthal era (previously thought to be extinct but apparently still with us). Some say he is morphologically similar to the definitely dead Adolf monkey, but most taxonomists now classify him along with mythical beasts that mesmerize idiots and fools. This specimen is now the head of our dumbocracy and is indeed ideally suited to the role: he can hardly construct a coherent sentence but he has a world-class sneer and a vicious temper. He is supported by a horde of semi-human sycophants and swamp-dwellers that are terrified of his grunts and lunges. Dumbocracy is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

I’d add an important missing historic point: senile-corrupt-elitist governing predecessor bears a huge part of the blame for this sad and perilous state of affairs.

Many have observed Trump’s desire to have pliable ciphers as henchmen; but further, nearly all are low to midlevel operatives who fancy they have figured out how the game or the system works and know better than the actual professionsls. Like they are all James Bond, real sophisticates. Their idea to rebuild “Washington” won’t work politically anymore than it would be a good idea to rebuild Washington architecturally- to make the White House and Capitol and so on to look like skyscrapers.
That’s dumbocracy in action a la Trump.

I think the penny is dropping in Europe, that America is no good for anything anymore (whether world policing should have been on US shoulders in the first place is another point). Trump, Musk et al are basket cases and it’s a particular kind of basket that’s woven with burning custard, hurtling round the moon and singing out Spike Milligan songs backwards.

I wish they were just dumb, but I’m beginning to think they might be a little bit evil? We’ll, actually I’m showing my naivety – most American presidents are a little bit evil, its just with Trump and co-President Musk – it’s kind off staring us in the face – we can’t pretend anymore.

The problem for the US now is that most world (non-fascist admiring) leaders know that they look weak, stupid and a bit evil sucking up to Trump. They’ll still have to do it for now to some degree, but plans are now afoot. Even in the UK’s rightwing newspapers Trump is now electoral cyanide and I suspect more and more of us in the UK want to see the back of this special relationship – myself very much so now.
